What to Expect

We have one service which starts at 9:30am and it is a traditional service with music. Each service will start with our opening prayers followed by the lessons from the Bible, a sermon, passing of the peace (greeting one another), announcements, and then our celebration of Holy Communion.

You will be greeted at the door by our ushers and given a bulletin which outlines the service along with Hymns, and scriptures. Please make yourself comfortable and sit anywhere you wish. In the pew in front of you you wil find a paper service leaflet which has all the  service written out. We pray from this. If you have any questions or get lost in the order the service, feel free to ask for help.

Following the service everyone is welcome for coffee hour in the parish hall. 

Street parking is available along Gay street if you wish to parallel park. There are two small parking lots across from the church used by the County government during the week that you can use on Sunday! The Denton Municipal parking lot (free!) is about two blocks north on Gay street before you reach the Church.

Come as you are and wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some members get more dressed up, some less.

Children are always welcome at all of our services!

Don't even be concerned if your children begin praying in their own way during the service (crying out, laughing, etc.) The Rector is a high school teacher so it will not faze him in the least! He may even invite them to the altar during the Eucharistic Prayer so they can see better!

The Altar at the front is not Fr. Matt's altar, nor is it Christ Church's altar. It is the Holy Table of the Lord and His Supper table. All are invited forward to make their communion with the Divine. 

When you come forward through the center aisle, go to the front where there is an altar rail (little wooden fence). Feel free to kneel or stand. You will be given a small piece of bread (it is real gluten free bread, even though it may not look like it) and a sip of wine in a small cup. When it is offered, you can respond, "Amen".

Exit to the right through the open door (BE CAREFUL OF THE STEPS) and circle back through the little room back into the church and return to your pew (just follow the crowd). 

If you would rather receive a blessing instead of the bread and wine, let the priest know and he will bless you. That is a perfectly valid way to be in communion with the Lord, too!

Holy Baptism is a sacrament by which we are made part of Christ’s Body, the Christian Church. We delight in welcoming the newly baptized into our family as partners in Christ’s life and ministry. We promise to do all in our power not only to make your baptism a joyous event, but also make sure you are supported in your life in Christ. Please say something to our priest after the service or contact the church office if you are interested in pursuing baptism.

However, there is no requirement to seek baptism in order to attend and enjoy fellowship at Christ Church, Denton.
